How To set Keyboard Preferences

Overview

From In-page keyboard preference you can either select one of the predefined keyboards (Monotype, Farsi, Kashmir, Kurdish, Aftab, Muqtadra, Phonetic, Farsi and Arabic) or make your own keyboards (up-to eight User Defined Keyboard) Predefined Keyboards cannot be modified whereas you can modify User Defined In-page keyboard according to your need. In this learning unit, you will learn how to set the keyboard preferences.

1.       Method to switch between Different Input Languages

Using the “keyboard preferences” menu item, you can select form one of the predefine keyboard or from a list of eight User define keyboards and modify it as per your requirements.

1.       Setting Keyboard Preferences

The procedure of setting keyboard preferences has following steps:

Did You Know: There is a support of up to Eight User Defined Keyboards in In-Page Professional whereas another version of In-page has support for only one. User Defined Keyboard.

1.       Open the new In-page file.

2.       Click on the “Edit Menu” from Menu bar.

 Click on the option “Preferences” and then select the keyboard preferences.

4.       Select the Keyboard from the combo box

5.       Click on “OK” button.

6.       If you have selected on of the fixed keyboard, you can use the View button under the combo box to view or print the selected keyboard.

Key Positions of Selected Keyboard Preferences

The difference between key positions of any keyboard preferences can be illustrated by the following steps.

Setting up Phonetic Keyboard:

Open the new In-Page file.

Set the keyboard preferences to Phonetic.

Phonetic keyboard has the following key positions.

Type “INPAGE URDU KEYBOARD” in Urdu language in the phonetic keyboard.

Setting up Monotype Keyboard:

Open the new In-page file.

Set the keyboard preferences to Monotype.

Monotype keyboard has the following key positions.

Press the same keys as used in phonetic keyboard. After the type of same keys, you can see difference key position in the Monotype keyboard.

Remember: You can find out which language is currently enabled by looking at the language information in the bottom right of you In-page windows.
