Create New Style in Word Document
Overview
In this learning unit you will learn how to apply
appropriate styles in your document and how you can edit the styles given in
the word Document. After completion of this learning unit the student will be
able to set style on the document according to the requirement.
Setting
Styles on Word Document
The procedure to set the styles on the document has the
following steps:
Select the text you want to format. In the text you want to format
In the Style group on the Home tab, hover over each style to
see a live preview in the document. Click the More drop-down arrow to see
additional styles.
Select the style you want. The selected text appears
formatted ion the styles.
Applying Set Styles:
Style sets include a combination of title, heading and
paragraph styles. Style sets allow you to format all of the element of your
document at once, rather than formatting your title and heading separately.
The procedure to apply set styles has the following steps:
Select the text.
Click the Change Styles command on the Ribbon. A drop-down
menu will appear.
From the drop-down menu, select Style Set.
Select the Style Set you want and the change will be reflected in the entire document.
Purpose of Setting Styles and its Utilities
Styles and themes are powerful tools in word that can help
you easily create professional-looking document. A Style is a predefine
combination of font style, color and size of text that can be applied to
selected text. A them is a set of formatting choices that can be applied to an
entire document and includes theme colors, fonts, and effects.
Modify Style:
Any given styles can be modified by right clicking on the
style and select modify.
Mark the desired changes to the formatting. If our want, you
can also change the name of the styles.
Click Ok to apply the modifications to the style.
Create New Style:
To create new style in the document follow these steps:
Click the arrow in the bottom-right corner of the Styles
group. This opens the Styles task pane.
Select the New Style button at the bottom. A diloge box will
appear.
Enter the name for the Style, and set the text formatting
the way you want.
Click OK, and the new style will appear in the task pane.
Apply different styles on the document to see the different
between them.
In the below diagram Fancy style from set style
has been applied.
Note: After applying a specific style you can change its
font and color from change style tab.
